Benefits of 4:1 CBD:CBG Tincture for neuroinflammation, Autism and conditions related to the neurological disorder

(Peter A. LaFontaine)- As an individual that has Asperger’s, a form of high functioning autism, I have spent years studying my condition, using different strategies to maintain it, becoming a polypharmacy patient in my early twenties. I have been on an array of controlled substances not understanding how to properly take them until my late twenties. I started having neuroinflammation when I was 25 years old that would put me in a state of psychosis, hospitalized, and not being able to function for a period of time until stabilized on antipsychotics. And even with the antipsychotics I was having breakthrough symptoms. This would flare up yearly around February- May.
I started using cannabis daily starting at 23 years old without missing a day. I believe with my life that cannabis is medicine and am willing to defend this plant with my life. Not just for me, but to benefit the many children who have autism with depleted endocannabinoids levels. I believe giving a child with autism CBD Isolate based tinctures ONLY are ok and will cause no harm, intoxication, or negative side effects. As a matter fact, the FDA has a CBD isolate based tinctures made to pharmaceutical standards under the name Epidiolex approved for children already. Unfortunately many people are not educated in the cannabis plant and do not realize that there are non-psychoactive or low-psychoactive strains available. Many state level dispensaries seem to only focus on the psychoactive component of the plant with all the products they typically carry. This leaves it up to the hemp industry to fill that absence of non-psychoactive cannabinoids. With neuroinflammation being an overlooked issue an autistic patients, it usually falls on the patient to find the resolution to the issue they are having that remains or remained unresolved to be maintained properly. Key medications aside from cannabinoids that have aided me include Fexofenadine (Allegra), Famotidine (Pepcid), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Magnesium L-Threonate, and Quercetin.
When i first started using cannabis i was not a big believer in CBD or any of the non-psychoactive compounds of the cannabis plant. I was always used to seeing companies selling CBD doses in the low range to where it would barely have any effect on a person. When i speak of "effect", i do not mean psychoactive effects. I am talking about actual relief of negative symptoms you are experiencing. I caught Covid-19 in February 2023 where i had painful episodes, hallucinated, and wondered away from my house disoriented miles away at a Walmart. After having this negative experience, i had long lasting effects from Covid that kept persisting in combination with my symptoms from autism.
Prior to covid-19 i was struggling...but AFTER having it i struggled immensely from hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, disorganization, falling asleep, leg weakness, agitation, and more. I was in the hospital 2 weeks during the period of having covid-19 and shortly after. I remember i was feeling better when they were giving me Vistaril which i was not taking at home at the time. They messed up my Intuniv by giving me guanfacine IR instead for whatever reason. So i felt a bit off in terms of focus. Its when i got discharged my journey to recovery started which was in February 2023. It is now March 2025 and i have shown a large improvement in symptoms but still have to have surgery for a inguinal hernia and more suspected ones. I believe it occurred when i had covid-19 where i had an episode where i felt my organs were being torn out of my body. This experience frightened me due to not knowing what occurred with my body. I have had gastrointestinal issues worsened since then.
Cannabinoids I have used in my personal experience include THC, CBD, CBDa, CBG, CBN, THCV, and more recently CBDV. I started using edibles, tinctures, and capsules when i started to get more access to products with my recommendation letter prior to Ohio’s Medical Cannabis Card coming out. I spent years using a 1:1 CBD:THC without using higher doses of CBD. When I started doing a deeper dive on cannabidiol doses used in clinical studies, I obtained the necessary CBD products to start my regiment. During this time, I also discovered Cannabigerol (CBG) and began a regiment of taking it with the CBD. It took trial and error with me taking too much CBG at first and too little CBD. In the end, I fell on the following doses as my daily regiment:
8AM: 800mg CBD/200mg CBG
12PM: 800mg CBD/200mg CBG
3pm: 600mg-800mg CBD/200mg CBG
6pm: 600mg-800mg CBD/200mg CBG
10pm: 800mg CBD/200mg CBG
(3am: 800mg CBD PRN)(Repeat at 8am)
That is a total of 3600mg-4800mg CBD and 1000mg CBG daily.
I went a week without taking CBG and just taking the CBD. I noticed a big difference in how effective and how long the CBD lasted without the CBG. Cannabigerol (CBG) tends to add a boost to the base CBD dose you take. It gives a relaxing, calming, focusing effect that makes it easier to perform the stressful tasks your working on. It helps with being more organized in connection with the focused effect it provides. Many CBD companies sell products dosed at levels that are not sufficient for most people who require CBD and cannabinoid therapy. Would someone who isn’t autistic need as high of a dose? Probably not, but the dosage would still be no less than 100mg for benefits. 100mg should be the beginner dosage of cannabidiol for the average person. Companies selling lower dosed products than that are most likely trying to pull a larger profit in. If a company truly cares, they would prioritize making products dosed at efficient levels. One instance you would most likely take 50mg CBD would be to trigger your endocannabinoid system if it has never been or if its been a while since its been activated. To maintain a good, consistent dosing regiment that’ll show benefit, then like I once heard from another individual, the Cannabidiol (CBD) has to be dosed in a similar fashion as Advil.
